Janmashtami celebrations in Tami Nadu are enjoyed with preparations of special sweet dishes. Besides, Murukku and Seeddai are also prepared to offer to Gokulnandan or Shri Krishna. Every year, in Krishnanagar, programs are organized like dramas, bhajans and kirtans for devotees. Kerala enjoys various ‘shobhayatras’ by the Balagokulam in its districts. The city streets are colored with different tableaus depicting scenes from Krishna’s life. The mahashobhayatra beginning from Sri Thayatt Bhagavathi Temple and Sreekanteswara Temple is very famous.
