You have invited all your loved ones, friends and relatives over for the midnight Janmashtami puja. They will be coming over for the evening tea and snacks. So, are at your wit’s end as to what should be served to them? Do not worry. 123janmashtami.com has come with the delicious recipe of Murukku for everyone. Young ones and others will like this ‘noisy’ snack, as the murukkus are very hard to chew. In fact, they will love to exercise their teeth and jawbones for a change. However, this is not apt for elderly people. So, check out the recipe of Murukku here:
Murukku for Janmashtami celebrations:
Ingredients Required
Raw rice or Powdered Rice
White gram
White sesame seeds
Cumin seeds
Asafoetida or Hing in Hindi
Butter
Salt
Oil
Procedure
Firstly, take the rice and clean it and wash it. Leave it to dry. After it has fully dried, grind it. Then sieve it. After this roast the powder for sometime until light brown and keep it aside. In another pan, fry the gram and then grind it. Now mix the gram powder as well as the rice powder with sesame seeds, cumin seeds, pinch of ‘hing’ or asafoetida, butter and salt to taste. Mix well. Do not add water to mix. After the dough is ready, give it round shape. Now heat the oil in the pan and deep fry these murukkus.
Tip: After preparing murukkus, keep it in the airtight containers in order to avoid getting it soggy.
